What is a Tantric Massage?

Tantra (Sanskrit) literally means "loom, warp, weave".
The root Tan means: “to extend,” “to spread,” “to spin out,” “weave,” “display,” “put forth,” and “compose.”
Therefore, by extension, it can also refer to: “system,” “doctrine,” or “work.”

The root Tra means the warping of threads on a loom. It implies "interweaving of traditions and teachings as threads" into a text, technique or practice.

Regretfully these days there is a lot of misinterpretations and misunderstandings around the wonderful world of a Tantra massage.
The words having been "high-jacked" by the porn and Escort industry and therefore been given a misleading purpose in peoples mind.

In
Wikipedia we find: “The massage includes various techniques from different schools of massage with elements from yoga, bioenergetics, and sexual therapy."
According to the Tantric Massage Association, it was developed in the 1980s by Andro Andreas Rothe, founder of Diamond Lotus Tantra Lounge, the first Tantra institute in Germany (1977).

The client or the receiver of a tantra massage is not a giver. Their duty is to receive the massage and surrender to the rediscovery of senses feelings and emotions. The process combines the feeling of well-being associated with deep relaxation therapeutic as people come to resolve issues related to relationship issues, self-esteem issues including sexual issues.

Also according to the Tantric Massage Association Berlin, tantra massage is based on ideas taken from the work of Wilhelm Reich, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers and Alexander Lowen.
Other sources of inspiration included the work of Mantak Chia, Joseph Kramer – who developed the "lingam massage" – and Annie Sprinkle, who developed the "yoni massage". Andro Rothé developed Tantra Massage, Tantra Erotic Massage and the less known Yin Yang Massage.

According to the published information on their website, tantric massage does allow any kind of sexual exchange between the practitioner and the recipient of the massage.”
(although some “schools of thought” have the opinion that even that is possible if in agreement and consensual, to eliminate any perceptions of Roles and to expose shadow behaviours.)

The purpose of a Tantric massage is to lower our defense mechanism and to allow whatever emotional Truths to surface and be released. That can, of course, be Pleasure and Eros and even the full on Orgasm (as they are part of our emotional specter) but does not have to be.

As most of our emotional memory is stored in the area around the genitals (1st and 2nd Chakras), often they are included in the massage, and so the “misconception” of sex is born.

It is not uncommon that a sensations of sadness, grief or other blockages arises, as they are just as vital part of the experience and why many feel the Healing effect after a session.

Therefore, as part of our Ceremony we set our Intentions together.
Above all, it is about letting go and surrender…..
